XFC 21 - Jarrod Card vs Keith Richardson

 Jarrod “Wildcard” Card (12-6-1), a four time veteran of the XFC, and former featherweight champion, will return to action on December 7 for XFC 21: Night of Champions II. XFC 21 will be the final show of the year for the rising promotion and will feature some of the biggest names under the XFC banner. Card will step in to take on recently signed Keith "The Rockstar" Richardson (8-3)  in a Featherweight matchup that will be aired on the AXStv portion of the card, along with the Lightweight Championship Title fight between Nick Newell and Eric Reynolds.

Jarrod Card started off in the XFC a perfect 2-0 and was at one time the promotions Featherweight champion. After a short stint at Bantamweight, Card has returned to a more natural weight of 145 pounds and is ready to return to his winning ways after suffering a knockout loss to Marlon Moraes at XFC 17.

Keith Richardson is on a 2 fight win streak going into December and could use an additional win to get his name into the mix of top contenders for a possible 2013 Featherweight Title shot. He will be the better wrestler and will likely have a slight strength advantage over Card, when the two face off. Richardson will need to be careful in a fight against a veteran like Card, who will have the upper hand in grappling and striking. According to Card’s Facebook page he believes he will “have a few wildcards up his sleeve” to put Richardson away.

XFC President John Prisco announced the replacement to media officials, and was pleased to have veteran Jarrod Card able to step in and give Richardson a real test. “I like the new fight as much, if not more than the original. I think Richardson will be the better wrestler and that’s going to allow him to take the fight where he feels most comfortable,” said Prisco, “I just don’t know where that will be. Jarrod has better jiu-jitsu and stand up, and he is the more experienced fighter.”

The Featherweight matchup between Jarrod Card versus Keith Richardson will be the opening bout on the AXStv live portion of XFC 21: Night of Champions II, presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and Throat Punch Ind. Wahman is fighting again after SFL 4; where he suffered a first round TKO against crowd favourite Kultar Singh Gill. One of Egypt’s most seasoned kickboxers, Wahman is looking for redemption whist the confident Baz Mobarez is set on victory and looking to make his mark on the global stage.

SFL 9 also presents two of India’s most highly regarded Middleweight prospects; debutants Satendar Bankura versus Rajbir Singh. Bhabajeet Chowdhury returns for more action following an unforgettable debut on SFL 4, beating Charanjeet Singh with a spinning back-kick that has been tagged as a contender for knockout of the year. Trying to stop Chowdhury will be Jamshed Khan.


Another fans’ favourite on the card is Indian flyweight sensation Gurleen Kaur (0-1), a finalist on the SFL Challengers TV show. Kaur is looking to prove she is still one of India’s top fighters by going for her first win since losing in the SFL Challengers final against Manjit Kolekar. Trying to make a name for herself by beating the highly touted Kaur will be debutant Monika, a fighter with a Wushu background.

Super Fight League Presents SFL 8 Live Stream

Thanks to the great people over at Ingrained Media Fight News Weekly will now be able to bring you Super Fight League every Friday! SFL returns for another series of ‘Friday Fight Nights’, featuring two top middleweight contenders on a winning streak: John Troyer (13-7-1 U.S.A) versus Vasily Novikov (11-7-0 Ukraine.)

Troyer is coming off a three-fight win streak that has seen him stop his last two opponents via rear-naked choke. Novikov is fresh from a unanimous decision win in April of this year. With Novikov’s fights having only gone the distance twice in an 18-bout career, both of these fighters are looking for a quick finish to make their mark on the global stage.

SFL 8 follows an exciting night of finishes, which made up SFL 7. Only one match went the distance in a card which saw rising UK welterweight star Michael ‘Venom’ Page destroy Egypt’s Haitham Tantawy.

Five Fights To Make After Invicta FC 3

After last night's incredible fight card, Jessica Penne was crowned the first Invicta 105lb champion but also has the distinction of being Invicta's first ever champion. This was one of their better cards not only in terms of talent and matchmaking but also in terms of production. The last two cards had stream issues which didn't allow some people to watch the fights. It was great seeing that there were no issues this time around as it would be a shame to miss out on what easily was the fight card of the day on a day that had One FC, Glory, CES, Superior Challenge as well as CFA. Six fight cards in a span of twenty four hours and Invicta easily stood out.

A Few Questions exiting UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort

Last night the UFC returned not only to Toronto, Canada for UFC 152 but a return to action after a long six weeks absence. Not only were the fans hungry for some fighters but the fighters themselves were also ready to get back into the Octagon, as evident by their performances last night.

The 12 bout UFC 152 fight card brought a mixture of grueling wars, nasty submissions and jump out of your seat knockouts. Not to mention the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones encountered his biggest scare to date and Dana White put the first-ever flyweight championship belt around the waist of Demetrious Johnson.

With all that said, as UFC 152 ended and the lights were turned out at the Air Canada Centre there were many fresh questions looming.

MMA & Marketing

When one thinks of marketing and mixed martial arts(MMA), they think the only thing that is done is putting together an integrated marketing communicatons package for a variety of purposes. The packages are used to promote not only fights but also the company itself. The UFC was and is a perfect example of how something as simple as social media can be used to turn MMA from a niche product into one of the biggest sports in the world.
